Tony knows there's some ninja... stuff going on in Hell's Kitchen. It would be kind of hard to miss. But with all the regulations coming down, he feels like maybe he should get in touch with these people and see what side of the fence they're really on. And if they are good guys maybe warn them... or something. He'll figure it out when he gets there, which maybe isn't the best plan he's ever had. But if the Avengers get taken out of commission he might need a new crew to run with for a while. And there are these lawyer guys everyone seems to think know something.
He is extremely out of place here, in his hand-tailored Italian suit and big custom sunglasses. To be tactful, this office is a pit. And he doesn't see much lawyering going on. He leaves his name with the pretty blonde at the desk, who smiles to herself but otherwise doesn't let on that she knows who he is. It's been a long time since someone was coy with him, kind of adorable. Tony spins around to find a place to sit -- maybe a rickety old chair -- when he sees someone else who definitely doesn't belong.
Sitting in the seat directly next to her, he leans over and speaks in a hushed tone, like they're conspiring. Though he's never seen this woman before in his life. "I heard this was the place to go about vigilantism."
When Tony Stark shows up, it's like something out of a bad joke. Two billionaires hang out in a law office in Hell's Kitchen....
The amusement is clear to see on her face as she turns to him. She's pretty dressed down by comparison with her light jeans, baby blue t-shirt, and boots except for the fact her outfit is worth more than the rent on this place. She plays along with his little conspiracy, happy for a little entertainment before Matthew gives in and admits he wants sees her as he always does.
"Really?" She whispers back in a sing-song voice. That is actually interesting they caught the notice of Iron Man even if it isn't all that surprising. Matthew really was careless with his secret identity. Stark, despite all the obvious bad choices, isn't stupid from what she's knows of him. "Did the Hulk tell you that? I heard he made quite an impression in Harlem."
He has to snort at that, even if it's really not a funny joke. Especially considering... everything that's come down after. But he knows she didn't mean anything by it, so it's easy to let it slide. "Sometimes things get lost in translation," he admits lightly, trying to gage if he's really in the right place or not without coming out and asking. "What brings you here? You don't look like the trouble type." At least... not legal trouble. He pulls off his shades and tucks them into his jacket, lifting an eyebrow over at her expectantly.
She has no interest in helping him because #TeamDaredevil, but it is still fascinating who Matthew is drawing in. Tony keeps her mostly undivided attention. "Welll..." She starts, happy to build up the fake, but actually kind of true story she sold Matthew to a new audience. "Between you and me? My father was a very sweet man, but not very bright when it comes to investments. He got into bed with the Roxxon Corporation. I'm sure you've heard of them; nasty bunch. Basically own every lawyer in this town except for these lovely gentleman." She gestures beyond her to a room where Foggy and Matt are no doubt arguing about why the Hell his ex-girlfriend and Iron Man are here.
"What he lost to them was chump change, but all the same I don't like strange little men taking advantage of Poppa so I'm sticking Nelson and Murdock on them. They love lost causes normally so I thought one who will actually pay them would be a nice change of pace." Isn't she thoughtful? :>
Tony doesn't suspect the blind guy is their resident ninja mind you, so this story totally works to push him off the trail for the moment. "Why do bad guys always throw extra letters around?" It's annoying okay, and deserved to be pointed out. But he really is listening, mostly. "So you're throwing your friend a bone? I can dig that." Yes u are that transparent Elektra. He is also a rich person, and he gets how hard it is to get people to take handouts.
"To strike fear obviously. Look at how they abuse their native tongue to be menacing." She grins at him. Elektra really does love her cheesy little jokes. Don't mind her. Elektra does have enough sense to try to play dumb since she knows Matt is totally listening in on them. "What? I'd never insult him with a handout. They're doing me a favor by refusing to be bought out by Roxxon and their extra letters."
She glances at the door before mouthing so much pride to Tony.
"You have all the answers, don't you?" But he's amused af he can't help it. Someone appreciates your jokes look at him trying not to smile! The explanation however isn't nearly as convincing. Tony raises an eyebrow, about to argue when she mouthes words at him. Uh... what? What he mouthes back, but that's when the words roll into his head. "Oh," he says. "I hear you." Loud and clear.
He turns to face foward, smiling idly. "Just give me a hint... am I in the right place?"
She smirks because naturally she thinks she does have all the answers. Isn't it nice of Tony to notice that? "I do actually. It's one of my best qualities."
It's short-lived once she hears his question. She smiles coyly as she tries to think of how to play it. Ultimately she knows this visit isn't accidental so she may as well spin things as best she can to protect Matthew's identity. "Well this is a place where desperate people go for help. If I were a vigilante, I would stalk this place for people to help when the law fails." She's just saying.
Oh he likes her. Tony leans back in his chair and clasps his hands over his stomach, his legs stretching out in front of him and crossing at the ankles. His body language is clear: he's good here until he gets some real answers or at least until he gets to talk to the men themselves.
"...But you're not. Obviously." A vigilante. Is he onto her? He shrugs one shoulder, eyes still trained ahead. "Just an if, for instance type of hypothetical. This would be a good place to start looking for the Dare Devil."
She nods her head, playing up the bitter rich girl act as much as possible. "Obviously. You and Thor have the market cornered on rich people and royalty saving the little people. What could I contribute other than my stunning good looks and excellent taste in casual wear?" It takes five minutes to Google who she is so she's not even gonna play like she isn't super rich or a diplomat's daughter.
"And hypothetically? You're likely on the right track. I wouldn't be shocked if Daredevil had this place bugged. It's pretty easy to sneak things into a blind man's office."
He rolls his eyes at the Thor thing, everyone likes to compare them but they're easily the most different members of the team. Not that Pointbreak doesn't have his moments, okay, it's just annoying. But he lets it go, he's not here to squabble with 'the little people,' as it were.
"You sound like you're speaking from experience." Just saying. "What about the other guy? Is he really that clueless?" In Tony Stark 'clueless' translates to not as insanely paranoid as him.
She shrugs casually. No sense in denying it if she can play it off as a joke. "What girl hasn't committed a felony or two?" That can be anything in her crowd. Elektra grows a little more somber for Matt's part in this. He really does make her life difficult, she thinks.
"Well he is dumb without question, but I wouldn't say clueless. I'd say inclined to metaphorically look the other way is about where he stands on this."
"I can think of one." His eyebrows lift, but he doesn't correct her otherwise, listening intently to her commentary about Foggy. That seems about right.
"You would both do anything for him, wouldn't you?" This blind lawyer dude isn't doing too bad despite the desperate appearance of this law firm at first glance. He has a woman and a best friend who loves him. He knows what that feels like first hand, and there's no replacement for it. But maybe... it's not enough.
That line of questioning makes her a little nervous, but she plays it off with a shrug. Her skin crawls from being so easily read and called out, but what can she do? Matthew already was suspicious enough to grab his attention. If her damage control doesn't work, they- or really he is royally screwed here. No one needs the Avengers coming down from their place in the sky. Elektra thinks it will end particularly bad for Matt since this is the one problem Elektra can't buy or kill for him.
"If you saw him from behind you'd understand why. He has a fantastic ass. Who wouldn't do anything for a man who looked like that?"
"Wow, good point." He turns back to look at the wall. She doesn't seem the shallow type to him, but what does he know? "I mean... I'll take your word for it." He really won't.
She smirks because Tony isn't that subtle in this instance. "You can look, you know. I'm not officially dating him. The last time we did that, we were teenagers." If he reads between the lines though he's still hers so you can only look. :> Matt's still hers.
[ just after he sends it he realizes that sounds a lot more ominous than he'd meant it, given his history. he doesn't need help burying a body, this is actually an exceedingly normal problem to have. ]
we suck at being retired [ he's just stalling so the next one is in quick succession too ]
i've been seeing someone, sort of. i don't know. we've been dancing around something for months and we slept together and now i'm worried i'm gonna fuck it up.
Everyone gets attached. What are you hoping to get out of this? It sounds like you want to be hers and your concern is she won't have you or at least won't admit she wants to have you. It's probably that one for the record.
how would you know? [ it comes out defensive, but he's serious!!!! how do women know this stuff. ]
